Madness

A good girl- very conforming, did what she was asked to do and nothing more, behaved how she ought to behave around people– for there are rules, certain standards to follow. Because before knowing how we are we must know how we should not be. So, she quietly obeyed for her young mind could not grasp how this new world- she was suddenly ushered into, functioned, she thought “the grownups know better”…

They told her she needs to fear - a good deal of fear needs to be installed in every part of her life. She needs to do homework daily else she'll be punished, needs to study daily and have good grades or else she’s dumb, should not waste her time playing outdoors,  should not speak unless spoken to, respect elders even when they are cruel, meet people and listen to them, talk to them, smile at them, to show up at family parties, and so on. When she asked why, why not skip homework once, why not try spending some time alone or even with those whose company she actually enjoys rather than listening to the same boring conversations people have everyday, why not do something that is fun, she came of as being rude. Apparently doing what you want was acting rebellious.

As she grew up she found there were even more dos and dont’s in the society especially for women, there was no respect of anyone’s way of life if it’s a little different , no compassion of the hard choices people make under dire situations..  she thought "life in the nutshell is about doing things you don’t like and being in places you don’t want to be."

They told her she was odd, she was acting weird , she needs to act cool, talk rubbish, pay attention to people around, their attire, success, and what not… she tried to fit in at first only to realize how stupid it all was, only to realize how her mindset was miles apart from the people around. All those struggle she made and  yet she could never belong–she was after-all a free soul in search for genuine relationships.

Rules never did make any sense to her until now, because now she realized that all those restrictions were there for her to break–to shatter all the preconditioning of her imprisoned mind – to have that taste of freedom, for that ultimate triumph. And the world was not so constricted as she was told , it was vast and infinite, lively and colorful- it was full of magic and beauty. Then she thought- “it was alright to be mad, in fact madness brings us closer to our self, loosens the barriers within…let it break free, let it breath.. let the dance happen”
